Smudge Proof Semi-Permanent Lipstick
Lip Blushing is a professional cosmetic tattoo technique to enhance your lip color and shape. It can also serve as a cosmetic corrective procedure for lips that are flawed.
Our LICENSED PMU artist uses professional cosmetic tattoo techniques and pigments that stay true to tone with gradual fading over 2-4 years. Yes, you'll have gorgeous lips for years! If you're tired of your lipstick smudging, fading or having to re-apply it, if you're looking to add a little fullness and definition or if you simply want to put on a little gloss and walk out the door... then a lip blush is exactly what you need to ensure your lips are always picture perfect! As far as color, we can achieve something light and barely there or go for something more saturated.
All new appointments require a 6-8 week touch up for optional results.
New Lip Blush - Full Saturation
Fine tune and ensure long lasting results. Must be scheduled 6-8 weeks from initial appointment.
Annual Touch Up to keep color at its best. Must be scheduled between 9-14 months from initial appointment.
Your lips are an open wound. Caring for it plays a huge roll in your results. Do NOT touch your lips with dirty fingers or applicators as this can cause an infection.
Day 1: Gently blot lips as often as needed to absorb any lymph fluids. These fluids create scabs which we want to avoid as much as possible. Dry area completely then apply thin layer of ointment to prevent your lips from drying out. You may ice your lips if you feel tender or swollen, just keep them moisturized.
Days 2-14: Use clean fingertips to gently wash lips morning and night with an unscented cleanser. Pat dry then apply a layer of any leftover ointment or your desired lip moisturizer. The secret to ultimate results is keeping them moisturized. Drink through a straw for the first 5 days. Wear sunscreen on lips during the healing process.
DO NOT:
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT DAY TO DAY: The complete healing process takes 6 weeks.
Day 1 - Lips are tight and swollen, color is vibrant.
Days 2-4 - Lips feel tight and color becomes even darker - (don't freak out) Lips fade 30-40% upon complete healing.
Days 5-7 - Lips look blotchy as if pigment didn't take in certain areas and peeling begins.
Days 8-15 - Color looks as if it faded back to a natural color (don't freak out - it comes back).
Days 16-30 - Color blooms into its true color - you begin to LOVE your lips. Schedule your touch up to fine tune any flaws and pack pigment.
Day 45-60 - Touch up so your lips last for years!
(Touch up's are almost always necessary)
Am I able to get the service? You may NOT have this procedure if :
If I've had lip filler injections, am I still a candidate for lip blushing?
Yes! In no way does having Lip filler interfere with the process of tattooing lips or the results. Note that lip filler and lip blush appointments MUST be at least 4 weeks apart from each other.
How long will it last? Depending on your skin, health and if you come for a touchup, your tattoo will last from 2-5 years.
Here are some factors that will cause your lip blush to fade faster:
Products such as Benzoyl Peroxide, Hydrogen Peroxide, Glycolic acid, Apple cider vinegar, Vitamin E and C, and Retinol can lighten or fade your tattoo faster. Wear sunscreen as the UV rays will deteriorate the pigment and lighten or fade the tattoo faster as well. Salt water and chlorine can also deteriorate the pigment so rinse with water immediately after contact. Oily skin, exfoliants and metabolism can also lessen the longevity.
Does it hurt?
It can be slightly uncomfortable but completely bearable. We use an excessive amount of numbing so most don't feel much if anything. If you are nervous about pain, you may take 1-2 Tylenol 30 minutes before your appointment. DO NOT take Advil or drink coffee before your appointment. Coffee and Advil will cause you to bleed lots and also make you more sensitive during the procedure.
Can we go outside the lip line?
The skin on the lips is not the same as on the face so if we go beyond your natural vermilion border, things get unpredictable and you potentially can end up with two different healing colors. We can push your vermilion lip border by 2mm if your lip skin allows.
Can I get a lip blush if I have dark/cool toned lips or a previous tattoo?
Yes, however, on the first session we will have to color correct your lips to cancel out the cool tones. This means the initial color we tattoo MUST be orange! Sounds scary but I promise you won't look like a clown. If we tattoo any other color you risk darkening your lips further or having absolutely no results at all. When healed at 6 weeks, most if not all of the darkness in your lips will be covered and your lips will have a nudey-pink even tone. Note that results cannot be guaranteed and lightening or evening out dark lips may take a few sessions. If you think you have dark, cool or previous work, please send me a clear, unedited, unfiltered picture of your lips so we can discuss your options.
